igniting creativity, unlocking potential

The world we live in today is fraught with uncertainty as:

•    Our economies teeter on the brink of disaster

•    The world changes at breakneck speed

•    Innovation becomes critical for the survival of businesses

•    Scarcity of resources results in competitiveness which drives everything we do

We could look to our past for answers. Our world today was made possible by Explorers, Inventors and Leaders. The skills that served the individuals who paved the way are evident in our history.

With the lessons from our history we return to our question:

What might be all the skills that the youth of today need in order to succeed in a world we cannot predict or even envision?

Here is what current research is revealing:

•     The Partnership for 21st Century Skills has identified Creativity as a skill set that is a necessity for the future.

•     In an IBM survey more than 1500 CEOs from major corporations around the world have identified creativity as the key to navigating an increasingly complex world.

•     Adobe’s most recent survey of 5,000 people from around the world shows that 8 in 10 people feel that unlocking creativity is critical to economic growth and nearly two-thirds of respondents feel creativity is valuable to society, yet a striking minority – only 1 in 4 people – believe they are living up to their own creative potential.

•     Sir Ken Robinson says Schools are Killing Creativity

•     Newsweek covers the Creativity Crisis

•     At the Beyonder Academy we agree with the that the youth of today need in order to succeed in the future are the same skills that our past explorers, inventors and leaders so clearly demonstrated – this skill set is called creativity.
